The Shade Project · Moraga Commons

Every child deserves a place out of the sun.

Help bring shade to the Lamorinda All Access Playground — a place where children of all abilities play together.

The playground

Built so every child can play in the same place.

The Lamorinda All Access Playground at Moraga Commons was built so children of all abilities could play together, side by side. It draws families from across Lamorinda — parents, grandparents, and caregivers who stay as long as the kids do.

What it lacks is shade. On warm afternoons, that’s the difference between a short visit and an afternoon.

The project

Shade over the places children play.

The project adds shade sails over the main play areas and the playground entrance, offering relief from direct sun and making the playground more comfortable for children and the adults who bring them.

Final design and construction are led by the Town of Moraga.
